optical technology
Traditional DO sensors most commonly use the Clark Cell/Membrane technology which has drawbacks that include maintenance issues, membrane fouling, calibration instability and worst of all, oxygen consumption.
The optical technology inherent in the AquaPlus™ Probe eliminates all of these problems. These probes are membrane free, resistant to fouling, offer long term stability and they do not consume oxygen.
Additionally, in order to acquire accurate readings, the AquaPlus™ Probe includes sensors which measure temperature and conductivity EC (salinity). Barometric pressure is measured using the hand held Aquameter.
dynamic luminescence
The Aquaread AquaPlus™ probe works on the principle of Dynamic Luminescence Quenching. A gas permeable material known as a luminophore is excited with short bursts of blue light which causes molecules within the luminophore to emit red photons. By measuring the delay in the return of the red photons with respect to the blue excitation, the level of dissolved oxygen present can be determined.

calibration
Every AquaPlus™ Probe is delivered fully calibrated and ready to use out of the box. All calibration data is stored on-board the probe so that probes and meters can be mixed and matched without any problems.
recalibration
Recalibration is simple. For regular field use, AQUAREAD™ provides an all-in-one calibration solution, RAPIDCAL™, allowing easy one step calibration. Full calibration of each individual electrode is also straightforward, by following simple instructions on the AquaPlus™ Meter.
IMPORTANT!
The sleeve on the AquaPlus™ Probe forms an integral part of the measurement system for both EC and turbidity. The AquaPlus™ Probe will not function properly without both halves of the sleeve fitted.
AquaPlus™ ProbeEC sensorThe Aquaread AquaPlus™ Probe is the most advanced portable optical DO probe available on the market today. The reason we can make this claim is simple, EC. When measuring DO, the readings must be compensated for salinity. In order to do this the operator must enter a value for salinity which means either very good guess work or also carrying an EC probe into the field as well. The AquaPlus™ Probe eliminates this requirement by having a built-in EC sensor. |
