The Waterra Inertial Pump System is frequently used in these situations because it is utilizes rigid tubing and is available in narrow diameter configurations allowing it to be pushed past obstructions. For instance, openings of as little as 0.5 inch (1.25 cm) can be sampled using theMicro Flow System course, if the opening will accommodate a larger diameter system then perhaps that should be used.
micro flow system
The Micro Flow System usually consists of:
- a SS-10 Foot valve
- a length of Micro Flow Tubing
- and a drive mechanism: typically hand operated, although the electric Hydrolift-2 may be used
procedure
The valve is securely threaded into the tubing. The tubing is then inserted into the well, valve first. The tubing is fed down to the depth of the screened interval and then cut about six feet (2 m) above the top of the well. The drive mechanism should be affixed to the well head and the tubing connected to drive mechanism at both the reciprocating arm and the fixed discharge on the drive mechanism. Pumping is initiated by turning on the drive mechanism or pumping by hand at the rate corresponding to the desired flow. The advantage of the mechanized drive systems is the fact that whilst purging, the field person is available to do other tasks.
As always, a Waterra technician can be contacted to help you make your decision.
Drive point Samplingwith the waterra inertial pumpIn the last few years, the popularity of establishing piezometers using drive point technology has increased substantially. The concept is to drive a hard point into the ground to establish a shallow piezometer. In order to drive these piezometers into the ground, they must be narrow diameter (approximate inner diameter of 1/2 inch (1.25 cm). |
